Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has expressed concern over the ever-increasing encroachments in different localities of the city and demanded the district administration especially Cantonment to remove these encroachments to end frequent traffic jams affecting their business. All major markets and Bazaars of the city are facing encroachment and traffic congestion.
Talking to the delegation of Anjuman-e-Tajran Rawalpindi Cantt, Saqib Rafiq, the newly elected president of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce said that encroachment is the biggest problem, it is difficult to walk in Sadar bazar, due to traffic congestion, and customers face difficulty in shopping.
He said that the Cantonment Authorities have failed to fulfill their responsibilities.
Saqib Rafiq said illegal car parking was common even in the presence of traffic cops, creating massive traffic jams and customers have stopped coming to the shops for shopping. Business activities are severely affected. He assured the delegation that the chamber will take up the matter with the district administration in a comprehensive manner to eliminate encroachments and reduce traffic congestion.
The delegation, which was led by President Cantt Sheikh Hafeez, also congratulated the newly elected officials on assuming charge of their office and expressed confidence in the new team’s capabilities. Group leader Sohail Altaf said that the ongoing campaign of the chamber “Rishwat se inkar ba izzat karobaar” will be promoted so that the efficiency of the departments can be improved.
Zafar Qadri, Munir Baig, Mushtaq Khan, Rashid Waien, Hasan Mustafa, Asim Malik, Aamir Malik and other members were also present in the delegation.
